Surgical Tool Prototypes
As a freelance product developer, I worked for Curax Scientific LLC to research surgical tools for carpel tunnel syndrome and develop an innovative product that allows a doctor to more easily view the surgical cut. I used SolidWorks to design the tools, and 3D printed prototypes. I designed the tools to be injection molded.
The tools I designed allow the endoscope to get closer to the area of interest during the surgery by having a tube for the scope incorporated into the design of the cutting tools. This method of surgery now uses one site of entry into the hand instead of two. Since the surgery requires only one cut, the possibility of a complication is reduced.
